Choosing an ESP

When choosing an Email Service Provider (ESP), consider what matters most to your organization. Many Email Service Providers have the same features, bells and whistles, all of which are used by the sales team to impress you.

In reality, the email marketer never touches many of them. So what is important?

Say you want to to focus on price. Price is important, but price is frequently eclipsed by your return on investment. For example, one ESP may charge twice as much as the other, yet be able to coach and advise your team to the point where the return is four times greater. What is a multiplyer like four worth to you?

Price shoppers are frequenltly not the users. So they focus on price and forget about support. The people using the system focus on support, usability and service level agreements. What is support worth to you?

At emfluence, we recommend that you try using multiple ESPs before you commit to one. Test them against each other - and don't stop at just the system. Test the people behind the system as well. Try to work with the people who will be supporting your marketing team and initiatiaves.
